To look outside the battle arena in the golden saucer (when you are battling), get Odin (found in Shinera Mansion) and get Quadra Magic (Get a blue chocobo and there's a cave near Midel). Then, equip them on a linked material. Use it on the first gruop of enemies. If you killed the last bunch with the lance and not the sword, it will about half the time, show Odin appearing in a different spot. When he throws down the lance, it will be in a black, glitchy area outside the battle arena.
